Creepy Monster Hands

Creepy Monster Hands

Materials Used
Fencing Wire
Paint - any colour you want

Pool Noodles
Masking Tape
Glue Gun
Duct Tape
  • I used these ones for the creepy trees and the life size witch/monster
  • When making these again I would use black duct tape or electrical tape as the cover layer when I make them next.
  • Using craft or EVA foam sheets trace around your own hand but make the fingers much longer, then cut them out.
  • Cut five wires per hand making them about twice the length of normal fingers or longer. Cut one very long wire for the the fingers to attach to (this should be 10cm or so longer than a pool noodle).
  • Loop the wire to attache the fingers over and then attach the fingers by looping them onto it.
  • Spread them into position on a table with a heat proof tray/cutting board and use the glue gun to fix them into place.
  • Once this is dry use masking tape to make the palm and cover the glue.
  • Cut poor noodle chunks out for the knuckles, thread them onto the wire and tape them into place.  Work on one finger at a time and tape all knuckles with wire threaded to the foam hand cut out.
  • You can then paint the hands with acrylic paint or cover the hands with electrical or duct tape.
  • Covering them with this tape will stick down the masking tape and is much easier that painting them.
  • Shape the fingers into place.
  • Take a pool noodle and cut it in half.  Thread it onto the wire and to the hand.
  • Use the glue gun to glue the hand in place in the centre hole of the pool noodle.
  • Once set use duct tape (I used black duct tape because that's what I had) and cover the pool noodle.
  • Thread the other half of the pool noodle over the rest of the wire and cover that with duct tape.
  • After that is completed if you want the arms black or silver leave it and cover the hands with the same duct tape or paint them the colour you want.
  • If you are going to paint them put strips of masking tape over the duct tape then paint them.

Creepy Monster Hands
(Foam Base)

Materials Used
Fencing Wire
Masking Tape
Craft Foam Sheets
Pool Noodle

  • I used these ones for the Dementors I made they are not any more or less difficult or time consuming than the other method to make and although I use masking tape for them I would use black duct tape or electrical tape as the cover layer when I make them next.
  • Using craft or EVA foam sheets trace around your own hand but make the fingers much longer, then cut them out.
  • Cut five wires per hand making them about 15cm longer than the hand (this makes it much easier to hold them and to attach them to what ever project they are for)
  • Cut poor noodle chunks out for the knuckles, thread them onto the wire and tape them into place.  Work on one finger at a time and tape all knuckles with wire threaded to the foam hand cut out.
  • Once they are done cut thin strips of poor noodle and place them along the palms, tape them into position moulding the tape to the foam.
  • Then using small strips of tape cover the hand.
  • You can then paint the hands with acrylic paint or cover the hands with electrical or duct tape.
  • Covering them with this tape will stick down the masking tape and is much easier that painting them.
