Cauldrons

Cauldrons are so easy and much fun to make.  I have made quite of few of them some using cotton wool and others using expanda foam.  Any of the designs below can be mixed and matched or you can just use the bits and pieces that you prefer.

Little Cauldrons

Materials Used

Small plastic cauldrons
Expanda Foam
Eyeballs, tiny skulls, plastic spiders, plastic rats (anything creepy you can put in the foam)
Newspaper or any junk mail you can screw up and put in the cauldron as a base

Screw up the newspaper and stuff it in the bottom of the cauldrons so it half fills them, spray the exanda foam over the top of the paper to the lip of the cauldron then as the creepy plastic items gently pushing them slightly into the foam and once it's dry and expanda dry brush red or green over the foam to create the goo effect.

Expanda foam is sticky and if you spill it resist the temptation to wipe it up.  Best to leave it where it is and let it dry.  Once dry just pop it off the surface and put it in the bin.  If you get it on your skin it will stick like crazy but will wear off and if you get it on your clothes you can basically reserve those clothes for all future craft projects cause it will not come out.

Big Cauldrons

Materials Used

Big Cauldrons
Expanda Foam
Brain Jelly Mould
Eyeballs, tiny skulls, plastic spiders, plastic rats (anything creepy you can put in the foam)
Newspaper or any junk mail you can screw up and put in the cauldron as a base

First paint the inside of your brain mould.  Paint the red veins first.  Remeber when you are painting the inside of this you have to paint the raised ridges red these are the vein divets when you look at it the right way up.  Wait for it dry then pain the rest of the inside of it pink.

Small Cotton Wool Cauldrons

Materials Used
Small Plastic Cauldrons
Bag of Cotton Wool
Plastic feet & Hands
Plastic Eye Balls
, tiny skulls, plastic spiders, plastic rats (anything creepy you can put in the foam)
Newspaper

These are so easy and quick.  Screw up some newspaper and put it in the bottom of the cauldron.  Take some cotton wool and drape it from the inside and over the edge.  Arrange the plastic feet and hands.  Then top with plastic creepy things (eyeballs, spiders, skills etc).  For mine I also use the left over dolls arms and legs from making the dollypeed.  This is one that the kids can make by themselves as it's easy for little hands to work with, no mess and if it doesn't look that good you can always just take it all out and start again (you can't do this with expanda foam ones).  These ones are best left for inside decorating.
