Safety Safety Safety
Always consider your safety when working on any project.
Consider your environment, ventilation, materials, tools, other people (children) and personal safety equipment.
Preempt problems because what can go wrong usually will.
Basic safety equipment you should always have on hand include:
Safety Glasses
Nitril Gloves (black ones are best)
Dust Masks
Spray Painters Safety Mask (for sanding Insulfoam)
Drop Sheets
Good Ventilation or an Outdoor Area
Paints - enamels and oil based should be used outside or in well ventilated areas
Adhesives - some contain acetone & should be used outside or in well ventilated areas
Expanda Foam - My favourite sort of foam, it is sticky and gets everywhere be careful
Heat & Glue Guns - always be aware these things are HOT they will burn you!
Sanding - at the very least wear a dust mask whenever you are sanding anything
Nitril Gloves - these things are brilliant! I always wear them when using adhesives
Tripping Hazards - if it's on the floor you can trip over it is generally a good way to think
Corded Power Tools - be very aware of where the power tools cord is
Children - make sure they are always supervised (sometimes they can't & shouldn't help)
Generally speaking it is a good idea to
employ a healthy dose of common sense.
